The first season of the show proved a massive success for Netflix; taking a retrospective look at the life of teenage suicide victim Hannah Baker, <em>13 Reasons Why</em> also dealt with the themes of bullying, rape, drugs, and gun violence. The show prompted many complaints from outraged and concerned parents who felt as though <a href="https://screenrant.com/netflix-13-reasons-why-study-season-2/">the show glorified suicide</a>, though arguably it served as a deterrent to many impressionable teenagers and encouraged them to speak out.</p><p><em>13 Reasons Why</em> has built a strong and passionate fanbase, and despite running out of source material, a renewal was inevitable. <a href="https://screenrant.com/13-reasons-why-season-2-release-date-trailer-news/"><em>13 Reasons Why</em> Season 2</a> picks up about 6 months after the events of Season 1, and Hannah's parents are deep into their court case against the school district. They - and their lawyers - have also heard all of Hannah's tapes.
