Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr.<i> </i>started it all back in 2008 with <i>Iron Man</i>, but since then the franchise has expanded to something bigger than anyone could have imagined.</p><p>So far the films have been separated into phases which have allowed Marvel to easily coordinate release dates and reveal new movie to the public.</p><p>Phase One consisted of stand-alone solo movies for each of the superheroes that ultimately led to a team-up film called <strong><i>The Avengers </i></strong>in 2012. In this respect, the subtitle of Phase One <i>Avengers Assembled </i>makes a lot of sense.</p><p>Phase One earned Marvel upwards of four billion dollars worldwide with <i>The Avengers </i>making up <a href="http://collider.com/marvel-movies-box-office/#thor-the-dark-world" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">$1,518,812,988 worth of the cash</a> on its own.
