Dwayne Johnson Confirms Jungle Cruise Filming Start Date

<img src="https://https://static0.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Dwayne-Johnson-Jungle-Cruise.jpg" /><p>Dwayne Johnson has confirmed the start date for Disney's <a href="https://screenrant.com/tag/jungle-cruise/"><strong><em>Jungle Cruise</em></strong></a> movie. The live-action film is based on the Adventureland theme park ride and takes loose inspiration from the type of globe-trotting Hollywood adventure movies that <a href="https://screenrant.com/tag/indiana-jones/"><em>Indiana Jones</em></a> (also an Adventureland ride in Disneyland) is descended from. <em>Jungle Cruise</em>'s visual effect supervisor Jake Morrison has even referred to the film as <a href="https://screenrant.com/jungle-cruise-dwayne-johnson-indiana-jones-comparison/">"Dwayne Johnson's <em>Indiana Jones</em>"</a>, lest anyone think that Disney and The Rock aren't hoping for a franchise out of this one.</p><p>Naturally, both Johnson and Mirrson have <a href="https://screenrant.com/disney-jungle-cruise-movie-pirates-caribbean/">name-dropped <em>Pirates of the Caribbean</em></a> as another source of inspiration for the <em>Jungle Cruise</em> movie. The whimsical ride turned blockbuster series seems to have finally run out of gas after five movies, but it was the hot new thing in Hollywood when Gore Verbinski's <em>The Curse of the Black Pearl</em> hit the scene in 2003.
