Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Casts Ride Along Star As Female Lead

<img src="https://https://static1.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Tika-Sumpter-in-Ride-Along.jpg" /><p><a href="https://screenrant.com/tag/ride-along/"><em>Ride Along</em></a> star Tika Sumpter is ready to go for a different kind of spin, taking on the female lead in Paramount's <a href="https://screenrant.com/tag/sonic-the-hedgehog/"><strong><em>Sonic the Hedgehog</em></strong></a> movie. <a href="https://screenrant.com/tag/westworld/"><em>Westworld</em></a>'s James Marsden <a href="https://screenrant.com/sonic-hedgehog-movie-cast-james-marsden/">has already been cast</a> as the movie's male lead, <a href="https://screenrant.com/sonic-hedgehog-movie-actor-cast/">emerging from a short-listed pack</a> that reportedly included Jack Black, Jason Segel, Owen Wilson and Ed Helms.</p><p>Originally billed as the manic counterpart to <em>Super Mario Bros.</em>, the 2D platformer <em>Sonic the Hedgehog</em> debuted in 1991 on the Sega Genesis video game system. Many sequels would follow, as well as TV, comic book and manga adaptations.
