Hellboy star David Harbour says the reboot will be following a particular strain of comic book movies – such as Logan and Deadpool – and be staying away from traditional popcorn flicks. Following the release of Blade II, Guillermo del Toro decided to shepherd his own comic book movie series – and that resulted in 2004’s Hellboy, starring Ron Perlman as the eponymous character. A sequel released in 2008, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, but it wasn’t as successful as the studio hoped. Therefore, a third film never saw the light of day.
