Peter Capaldi has written a touching letter to a young Doctor Who fan after learning that the boy was upset about the Twelfth Doctor regenerating in this year’s Christmas Special, “Twice Upon A Time.” Capaldi’s final episode saw both his Doctor and the First (played here by David Bradley) refusing to regenerate as they joined forces to return a stray World Word I soldier to his own timeline and solve the mystery surrounding a strange glass robot. Of course, the finale of the adventure eventually saw Capaldi resign himself to one more lifetime, as he regenerated into the Thirteenth Doctor, portrayed by Jodie Whittaker.
